He told me once the charge was posted to my account, they would give me a refund. I called them about it on October 26th, and the boy I talked to said that he saw I was wrongfully charged and that it wouldn't happen again. Fast forward to October 26th, and I begin to get charged ***** by them (My membership was ***** because they never applied my student discount which would've made my payments ***** if they actually applied it which they never did). Although I was normally charged on the 1st of the month when I was actively going to the gym, I was not charged on September 1st, so I believed they did cancel my account. I sent that letter on August 16th and called them on August 25th to make sure my membership was canceled I was told it was and that they received my letter.

I called on August 16th and asked how to cancel my membership and was told it had to be a letter, signed, and sent by certified mail to their address in *******. I sent them an email on August 1st to cancel my membership but they never replied to it. I was told that I wasn't under a yearly contract, and could cancel or freeze my account at any time. I started going to Synergy Gym at the end of May 2022.

They are now calling me constantly from billing, but when i had the issue at the beginning it took me a month or more to reach someone. I have been going thru this situation since june of 2022. This is unacceptable and now they want 110 dollars. They would tell me they would call me back various times and nothing. The manager from the syngery location in ******** square is very rude, sarcastic and unprofessional. I called my credit card to dispute and also had to change my credit card because of the continued charges. She emailed the secretary from synergy corp and she told me they would not refund me. She stated she understood my complaint and they shldve never kept on charging me. I resent a certified letter again with signature required this time and I spoke to ****** a supervisor from their new billing company who has been changed various times. They stated it was recieved but not certified, which they never called me to notify me and continued to charge my credit card. I canceled my membership in june of 2022 via certified letter.

I also looked into this and saw in 2016 a complaint was filed and settlement was made with the *** attorney general against synergy fitness for deceptive and illegal practices related to their fraudulent and unfair cancelation policies. One woman even told me they received the letter but since I couldnt prove with a receipt number from almost a year ago that it was certified that she couldnt accept it. I tried calling and they said again I need to mail a letter despite my explaining three were mailed. They finally stopped calling and I received a collection notice for money I did not owe, with fees. I tried explaining I sent at that point three letters (one certified) to the confirmed address to cancel and they were refusing to accept my cancellation. I sent one more letter and months went by until I was called again this time continuously harassing me for money. I mailed the letter requesting cancelation, months later was told it was not accepted and I needed to send certified mail, I then sent certified letter, months later was told I needed to provide proof I sent certified and told the woman on the phone I received a green receipt but no longer had it since it was mailed months prior. I was told to mail a letter to cancel and provided an address. The account was frozen while I attempted to cancel the account. I froze my membership at Synergy fitness on 7/13/21 after feeling uncomfortable with their lack of cleanliness, and *** Covid protocols.
